Summary:
Reclamation proposes to approve a one year transfer prior to February 28, 2012 of up to 20,000 acre-feet of Madera Irrigation District's (MID) Friant water supplies to North Kern Water Storage District (NKWSD) and/or Semitropic Water Storage District (Semitropic) for existing agricultural or municipal and industrial purposes. MID desires to maximize the beneficial use of its Friant water supplies by performing a one year transfer of a portion of its Class 1 and/or Class 2 water that exceeds their current demand. Revenue from the transfer will support MID's operations, maintenance and facility improvement programs.

Draft FONSI and EA available for review on August 22, 2011. Comments are due by September 9, 2011. FONSI signed and Final EA completed on September 16, 2011.
