San Luis Reservoir Low Point EIS/EIR
Site:
Summary:
The Santa Clara Valley Water District has proposed the San Luis Reservoir Low Point Improvement Project to maintain a high quality, reliable, and cost-effective water supply for the water district and other contractors of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s San Felipe Division. Santa Clara Water District wants to ensure that it and other San Felipe division contractors receive their annual Central Valley Project contract allocations at the time and at the level of quality needed to meet water supply commitments. Project objectives are: (1) avoiding supply interruptions when water is needed by increasing the certainty of meeting the requested delivery schedule throughout the year to south-of-Delta contractors dependent on San Luis Reservoir; (2) increasing the reliability and quantity of yearly allocations to south-of-Delta contractors dependent on San Luis Reservoir; and (3) announcing higher allocations earlier in the season to south-of-Delta contractors dependent on San Luis Reservoir without sacrificing accuracy of the allocation forecasts.
