Title:
Contra Costa Water District Exchange and/or Transfer with Alameda County Water District
Site:
Summary:
Alameda County Water District (ACWD) currently has 5,000 acre-feet of water stored in Los Vaqueros Reservoir. However, they have no direct conveyance mechanism to deliver the water to their customers. Therefore, an exchange has been proposed with Contra Costa Water District (CCWD). Under the terms of the exchange, CCWD would use ACWD’s water stored in Los Vaqueros Reservoir for their in-district needs. In return, ACWD would receive an equal amount of CCWD’s Central Valley Project (CVP) water via a transfer from the Delta. The CVP water would be taken at Clifton Court Forebay and delivered to ACWD’s service area by way of the South Bay Aqueduct. Delivery of the CVP water outside of CCWD’s service area requires Reclamation approval. A refill agreement would also be required to make Los Vaqueros Reservoir whole.
