Shasta Dam Tour

Tour Information

The friendly and knowledgeable tour guide staff at Shasta Dam invites you to come along on a free guided tour of the dam and power plant. Tours are offered Wednesday through Sunday. Tours include an elevator ride down inside the dam, where guides will discuss the history, purpose and construction of this huge project. After the short walk through the dam, the tour heads over to the powerhouse for a chance to view the states largest hydroelectric generating station. Tours take approximately 1 hour, and there is a maximum of 40 people allowed on each tour.

Tour Times

Tours are currently available at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Tours leave promptly, so we ask all visitors to plan on arriving 15-20 minutes prior to tour time to give them plenty enough time to be out on the dam for the start of the tour.  Plenty of parking is available at the visitor center. Please leave behind the following restricted items: cell phones and pagers, cameras, bags of any kind, weapons of any kind (including pocket knives). None of these items will be allowed on the tour. Tour times are subject to change without notice. We suggest calling ahead to check on tour availability.
