Folsom Dam 50th Anniversary

Folsom Dam began operating 50 years ago to provide flood control, water for farms, homes, fisheries, hydropower generation, recreation, and habitat protection.

To celebrate the dam's 50 anniversary, the Bureau of Reclamation, along with the Water Education Foundation, provided an opportunity to learn about California water and the significance of Folsom Dam on the American River.

  • Interactive exhibits demonstrate the construction and purpose of Folsom Dam and the Central Valley Project.
