Klamath Project ESA Consultations

The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation), Klamath Basin Area Office and Mid-Pacific Regional Office set up this site in March 2000 to provide relevant information related to two ESA Section 7 consultation processes.

Reclamation entered into consultation with the National Marine Fisheries Service on the effects of long-term operation of the Klamath Project on threatened coho salmon.  Reclamation also reinitiated formal consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on the long-term effects of Klamath Project operation on the endangered Lost River and shortnose suckers and threatened bald eagle.

The resulting biological opinions will guide Klamath Project Operations in 2001 and beyond. Opinions are subject to modification as new scientific information becomes available.  The following information is provided as an easily available on-line source for these documents as they are produced.
