  • Explore the American River watershed in this relief map that spotlights the course of the American River. This exhibit features an interactive control panel and an audio narrative about the course of the river and the water cycle.

  • Learn how much water is used for daily needs, and what water conserving measures you may take. Seventy percent of the water we use at home goes into landscapes, toilets, or showers.
Exhibit - River Canyon

  • Take a walk into the American River Canyon. The natural setting of the river canyon is re-created here. The area is home to many wildlife species. Exhibits also feature human uses of the river, touching on past and present uses.

  • You'll feel right at home in our kitchen and yard. This hands-on exhibit allows you to look inside the refrigerator, look inside cabinets, and measure wasted water to learn how much water goes into everyday items. You can also see water saving devices for use in your garden.
Exhibit - Folsom Lake

  • California's mediterranean climate with wet, cool winters and hot, dry summers results in an erratic supply of water. This exhibit demonstrates why Folsom Dam was constructed and the effects of drought and flood conditions on California, its wildlife, and its people.

  • Discover a different type of recreation below Folsom Dam. Nimbus Dam and Lake Natoma offer an endless source of water fun. The Nimbus Fish Hatchery is also located here.
Exhibit - Sand Table

  • See how rivers naturally flow over the lands at the sand table exhibit. This hands-on exhibit allows visitors to create a river and to experiment with how water moves.
