Birds of the Mother Lode - New Melones Lake Evening Program August 27, 2011
The answer to this question and much more about the “Birds of the Mother Lode” was presented during the evening program held on August 27, 2011.
The program started with arts and crafts of owl puppets, robin paper airplanes, and eagle masks that both children and adults enjoyed. Taxidermy birds and bird nests were on hand for everyone to examine up close. Through a Power Point presentation the visitors had the chance to see their evolution, learn how to identify birds in the outdoors, view photographs of the various areas surrounding New Melones Lake and the birds that could be found in those specific habitats.
The program ended with a discussion about why birds are so important to our ecosystem and many questions about how to visit some of these beautiful areas surrounding New Melones Lake.
