White House Conference Sets Stage for New Era of Conservation - On Friday, March 2, President Obama and members of his Cabinet convened the White House Conference on Conservation to engage directly with conservation leaders from all 50 states to strengthen partnerships and identify next steps in advancing community-driven conservation. Students Showcase Science Skills at the 45th Annual Colorado High School Bridge Building Competition - Employees from the Bureau of Reclamation came out in force to support the Colorado High School Bridge Building Competition in the Denver office's hydraulic and materials laboratory on Saturday, February 25. Colorado high school students with a passion for science came from all over Colorado to demonstrate their engineering and design skills at the 45th annual event.

Reclamation Joins Forest Service in Hosting "Let's Move Outside" Youth Tree-Planting Event - The Bureau of Reclamation once again joined forces with the U.S. Forest Service to help plant tree seedlings in damaged areas within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. This year's Scouting for Trees event took place on Saturday, March 3, at the Ackerman Campground in the Lewiston National Recreation Area, below Trinity Dam, 40 miles west of Redding, Calif.

Reclamation FY 2013 Budget Request is $1 Billion - The President's fiscal year (FY) 2013 budget has been released and includes a total of $1 billion for the Department of the Interior's Bureau of Reclamation. The President's budget reflects a continuing commitment to be prudent with taxpayer dollars while setting consistent spending priorities for Reclamation, the nation's largest wholesale water supplier and second-largest producer of hydroelectric power. The FY 2013 budget reflects many difficult budget choices, with cost-cutting actions, in order to fund the highest priority requirements. News Release, Budget
