Lower Colorado Assistant Regional Director
Janel B. Potucek was appointed Assistant Regional Director of Administration for the Lower Colorado Region on February 22, 2010.
As Assistant Regional Director of Administration headquartered in Boulder City, Nevada, Ms. Potucek directs programs related to acquisitions, financial management, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), human resources, security (physical and information), property, public affairs, and information technology. Her oversight of these critical areas contributes to the Region’s success in meeting legal and moral mandates, and providing crucial services needed by the more than 800 Regional employees to accomplish their goals.
An experienced leadership and management coach, Ms. Potucek’s background includes expertise in EEO programs and human resources and labor relations, allowing her to guide and consult with employees and managers at all levels of Reclamation.
With over 40 years of government service, Janel Potucek has a vast amount of experience in the Bureau of Reclamation and other government agencies. For much of her career, Janel devoted her efforts to the human resources of the federal government and the systems that support them. She joined the Bureau of Reclamation in the Pacific Northwest Regional Office in Boise in 1992 as a Labor Relations Specialist. Janel later brought her expertise to the Lower Colorado Regional office in 1996 as Director of Human and Information Resources, and also provided leadership in the Regional EEO Office and served as Regional Liaison in Reclamation’s Washington D.C. office.
An advocate of lifelong learning, she earned Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) accreditation from the Society of Human Resource Management. During her career, she has earned many honors and awards, including the Department of Interior’s Superior Service Award, one of the Department’s highest awards for career employees.
