Biography of Anthony M. Losito, Hoover Dam Chief of Police

Chief Anthony Losito

Anthony M. Losito was appointed Chief of Police for the Bureau of Reclamation’s Hoover Dam Police Department on December 16, 2007.

As Hoover Dam Police Chief, Losito manages a complement of officers that provide law enforcement and security services for Hoover Dam and its surrounding security zone, a jurisdiction of approximately 22 square miles in 2 states, including 3 miles of U.S. Highway 93.

With more than 16 years in the security and law enforcement career field, Losito began his career with the U.S. Border Patrol, and later served in positions with the New York State Auto Theft and Fraud Bureau and the U.S. Federal Protective Service. He also worked with the Office of Inspector General as a Criminal Investigator (Special Agent), the Presidio of Monterey Police Department as a Police Commander, and more recently as the Director of Security and Law Enforcement (Public Safety Director) for the Nation's first and most historic submarine base, U.S. Naval Nuclear Submarine Base - New London, in Connecticut.

He brings to Hoover Dam extensive law enforcement and security experience having served as a former police officer, criminal investigator, physical security specialist, SWAT Commander, and Dignitary Protection Agent. Losito is a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center’s Advanced Physical Security Academy, Inspector General Criminal Investigator Academy, Critical Infrastructure/Key Resource Qualification Training Program, Law Enforcement School for Continuing Legal Education, Criminal Investigator Under Cover Academy, and over 17 schools for Technical Electronic Surveillance. Additionally, he has served more than 8 years with the U.S. Air Force Reserves in both Security Forces and Operations Intelligence.

Losito has received numerous awards during his career, including several Superior Service Awards, two formal Citations (for service during the 1996 US Olympics, and during 9/11 when he served as a rescue and recovery agent), and various letters and certificates of recognition for law enforcement achievements.

Losito is very active in the community, and serves a Bagpiper for various charitable and benevolent organizations. A native of New York City, he and his family are enjoying all the West has to offer, including sports, camping, and RV’ing.
