Paddle Craft and Rafting Tours
Reservations and Access to the Launch Site
Just below Hoover Dam is a launch site where paddle craft such as canoes, kayaks or personal rafts can be launched for an enjoyable trip down the Colorado River.
The road leading to the launch site is in a security zone
and access is limited to Bureau of Reclamation employees and their contractors.
Therefore, if you have personal paddle craft that you want to take down
the river, you must make arrangements and reservations with one of the authorized livery
services to transport your craft to the launch site. Most livery services
can also provide rental craft if desired.
Launch fees are $12 per person (non-refundable) plus a $5 National Park Service entrance fee for adults age 16 and older. Shuttle service fees are determined by the individual outfitters.
Questions about launch permits can be directed to Black Canyon/Willow Beach River Adventures, a National Park Service concessioner. This firm maintains an office in the Hacienda Hotel on Highway 93 near the dam, and can be contacted by phone at (702) 494-2204 between 10:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (Pacific Time), Monday through Friday, for paddle craft reservations only. Their fax number is (702) 294-4464.
This concessioner also provides raft trips down the river. The phone number for raft trips and other administrative information is (702) 294-1414.
