Student Career Experience Program (SCEP)

Program Criteria:

Students must be enrolled at least half-time, as defined by their school.

Required GPA: 2.5

Students will have work assignments throughout the Great Plains Region (see map) and may be paid a stipend for living expenses.

Students must complete at least 640 hours of work before becoming eligible for conversion to a permanent position.

Pay: Depends upon each student's experience and education. Salary can range from $11.34 to $12.73 per hour.

Tuition Assistance: If tuition assistance is paid, students will be required to sign a written agreement to continue employment with the federal government for a specified period of time after graduation--basically for as long as the student attends classes at Reclamation expense.

A student may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent position for which he or she qualifies within 120 days of successfully completing the program.

If a student fails to complete his or her education or refuses an offer of permanent employment after graduation, he or she will be required to pay back money received for travel or tuition expenses.
