Power Generation Narration
Geology Bottle Hollow is a moderately sized, shallow erosional basin, formed by local drainage. There is little tributary drainage into the basin and there are two drainage channels out of the basin. It is located near the center of the Uintah Basin and on the south limb of the large Uintah Basin synclinal structure. Bedrock is all sedimentary and part of the Duchesne River formation of tertiary age. Beds dip tow to three degrees northward toward the synclinal axes. It is predominantly sandstone and shale with minor siltstone. The makeup the formation indicates excellent water tightness. The reservoir is surrounded by flat-topped benches on all sides except the south end. There the reservoir basin is separated from a large gully by a narrow low bedrock ridge.
