Welcome!
We have spent the past year working diligently on studies and research needed for the preparation of a draft Environmental Impact Statement under the National Environmental Policy Act. To highlight some of these most recent accomplishments, the 2011 newsletter is now available.
Reclamation has identified five possible pipeline routes from Pueblo to Lamar for the proposed 135-mile long conduit. Throughout 2012, we will be conducting studies and research on roughly 1600 parcels related to the possible routes. As part of the EIS work, these parcels must be surveyed and investigated.
Three types of land surveying are required:
- Topography using aerial photography
- Cultural Resources review
- Geotechnical investigations
- Geophysical work
- Drill sampling
March 7-31, 2012 Reclamation employees performed aerial panel placement and topographical surveying.
Beginning in late April, Reclamation crews and related contractors return to the field to conduct cultural resource investigations and geotechnical work.
While most of the 1600 parcels to be surveyed are in public right-of-ways, some may be on private land. In those cases, Reclamation will contact property owners and provide them with an explanatory letter and a Right of Entry form.
